Ford Strike Threat

In a move that recalls the dark days of 1970s car production the Unite union has walked out of talks with Ford’s UK management because of plans to close the final-salary pension scheme to new entrants. Roger Maddison, a national officer for Unite said “Our members have made it crystal clear that they fiercely oppose the closure… to new entrants”, appearing not to grasp the economic reality of the UK’s car industry by supporting action against a change in benefits for employees who do not yet exist.
