The Transport Select Committee has attacked the rising cost of UK motor insurance citing exaggerated whiplash claims as a major contributor. There has been a 70pc rise in insurance claims over the last six years despite a 23pc fall in road accidents. MPs want there to be a higher burden of proof for claimants with whiplash and an end to the activities of ‘ambulance-chasing’ solicitors.
