Straw Calls For End To Insurance ‘Racket’

Former Home Secretary Jack Straw has called for an end to the insurance-industry practice of referring accident victims’ names to legal firms. In an article for The Times Straw highlights the spiralling cost of premiums despite an actual fall in the number of personal injury road accidents and calls the referrals process a “racket”. In a separate RAC document about the state of motoring in 2011 the high cost of insurance is found to be the number one concern for British motorists.
